As I asked in my original review of Mamma Mia years ago: sound familiar? Some of the best energy in the picture show comes courtesy of Donna'due south younger version escapades with the musical group called the Dynamos, and Christine Baranski and Julie Walters are once over again on manus as the elder versions of 2 of Donna'due south erstwhile bandmates. Digitally captured with various Arri Alexa products and finished at a 2K DI (according to the IMDb), this is a bright and colorful presentation that offers consistently excellent detail levels throughout, including some nighttime scenes that have been graded toward a kind of purplish blueish tone. The brightly lit outdoor scenes virtually pop off the screen with the same kind of saturation that made the outset film and then memorable. (Blues in this moving picture are merely as brilliant and nearly fluorescent at times as they were in the original Mamma Mia!.) It does look to me similar certain scenes were green screened, and at that place's just a slight softness to a few backgrounds, peradventure as a event of this technique. That said, the location work (Croatia, once more according to the IMDb, merely also listed in the closing credits) is oft extremely impressive, with gorgeous teal tones informing the water and depth field exceptional in several wide vistas. Mamma Mia!: Here We Get Once again features a cracking sounding Dolby Atmos track that I suspect some people may feel is non quite up to the 5.0 I'm granting information technology, since in that location aren't a glut of "showy" Atmos moments in the presentation. Instead, there'south consistent immersion granted due to the many musical numbers, but even in non singing and dancing moments, there's some really appealing sound blueprint going on, especially in the Greek sequences, where ambient ecology sounds dot the surroundings channels. The island scenes offer the whistling of air current and bird chirps with fair regularity, and occasionally some of those effects tin audio but slightly artificial, especially in the higher frequencies. Some of the flashback cloth is arguably a bit more tamped down in terms of tons of ecology effects, merely many of the flashback scenes comprise songs, and so that perceived deficit is at to the lowest degree partially ameliorated by the immersion the music offers. If you're something of a musical geek (admitted or otherwise), it tin can often be a fascinating exercise to compare how different writers accommodate the same story. There are manifest differences, for example, between Andrew Lloyd Webber's insanely successful The Phantom of the Opera and some other, lesser known, adaptation by Nine's composer-lyricist Maury Yeston, entitled only Phantom, to cite just one case.
